hr-03 gahh.... I thought we tought you about cheapo water cooling kits? lol....

if your going to go water, do it right. Go custom. The hr-03 though is excellent, the best high end air. thermalright has it covered!

 

With the right fan I bet the HR-03 Plus would be better.

I would go with a high quality air cooler over a low budget water cooler any day.

 

Why is the base on the HR-03 not copper then?

It is copper. The base is coated with Nickel to prevent oxidation (pure copper oxidizes easily).

Good choice. My friend has one on his 8800 GTX and his idle temps with a 120mm fan are at 40C.

 

The HR-03 packs a heck of a wallup with a 120mm fan on it.

I had one on my 8800 before I went to water, it's a very good HSF. I just didn't like how much space it takes and you'd have to be very creative to get SLI working with two of them and a sound card.

Anyhow, it's collecting dust in my PC graveyard right now. I stole the backplate off of it and the ramsinks were permanently fixed by artic adhesive, so I am still running those.

Here is my old setup with it running...Did I say it was BIG...

 

i recently got one. b4 the Hr-03 i was at 55c on idle, now hr-03 w/fan 45

it looks awesome when it's in place.
