He everyone I was replacing out a video card in my sig rig as the card was defective when I was doing so I noticed some marks on motherboard they are white in appearance and I'm not sure what they are I have attached pictures.

I tried to clean it with some isoprop and a q tip with no success so im not sure if its a scratch in the pcb or if its just a cosmetic issue.

Ouch. At first, I was going to say as long as it doesn't hit any of the connections, but that's clearly in them.
Is there any way you can think if you made that scratch when swapping out cards or if you think they were always there?
If you just made them, I would be careful. It could have damaged the connections. If they were always there, then it obviously didn't affect it at all.
Sorry I can't help much.

Actually, I honestly doubt, no matter how you take out video cards, that you would have made that scratch.
As the above poster said, it's perpendicular to the vertical bracket on the video card, so unless you pulled it out, then straight up and down, you could not have done that. You're safe, don't worry.

Yeah I just took a closer look at it, I tried to feel the scratch but my club sized fingers didn't fit too well, so I didn't try to force anything out of fear of damaging something from what I could feel there was no obvious depth(almost look paint like) to them and shouldn't they be copper colored not white though if they were scratches?
Also I'm assuming it does take quite a bit of force to cause a scratch as well? More than just putting a video card in that is properly aligned or even just accidentally set down on the pcb which I don't remember doing.

Thank you all your help

Here are some more pics

Just in case should I get some Lacquer and put it over the white spots just to be safe?

Also where would I get Lacquer for a motherboard?

Thank you again for all your help everyone. I just don't understand how this could have happened. The only thing I can think of is either the board came that way and I never noticed or I somehow managed to hit the board when I was changing out the video card(weak varnish maybe?) But on a previous gigabyte board I had, I accidently dropped a video card on the board and there was not a scratch on it.
