@MikGR7 it Frigging worked. Gosh this works wonders. my superposition with OC on my old bios jumped from 14816 to 15100 just by moving the power sliders. My stock speed with new bios smashes my old bios which was heavily overclocked .This is crazy. My cards boost to 2010 mhz without OC and holds 2ghz stable. This chip is really good. i would try hitting 2130mhz core tonight. But here is my stock perf so far. Thanks for your help

Old score with old bios with overclock. I only changed my cpu but the scores were the same either way.

New score just by moving power sliders from 100 to 121 no oc base stock clock.

Guys I think there is something weird happening with my card, the boost clock is fluctuating a lot based on the OC I want (even with fixed voltage and fixed boost using voltage/frequency curve in MSI AB), I mean, most of the games the max I can get the boost to stay almost locked is 1980-2010Mhz, if I try anything higher like 2050-2100Mhz even knowing my card can do it fine the fluctuations starts to appear, I mean, standing still in any game without doing anything it varies from 1935-2070Mhz like crazy, I've seen this happening in all games I played (Cyberpunk 2077, AC Valhalla, Horizon Zero Dawn, Shadow of the Tomb Raider, etc), any idea? I tried the EVGA XOC BIOS and the problem still persists, anyone experiencing the same issue?
Well I figured it out, my GPU for some reason doesn't like anything above 1.025v (1.031v specifically), if I force the voltage above that the crazy fluctuations start to happen, I managed to get 2085Mhz stable at 1.025v as long as I keep it cool under 65c

====== EDITED A BIT

Got my 3080 XC3 Ultra. Heating up to 80C, must keep case side open (or optimize case fans). With fans on 100% it's under 65C I think with my best OC.
Best OC I managed so far was about 2070MHz. I think about step-up for FTW3, but maybe when there will be more 3080 in stock.

I'm not sure about step-up, idk if I want to keep XC3, order waterblock and just play games with max stable OC, or step-up, shipping, waiting, again no games...
Water cooling would give me like 10-20W more watts? No fans, no led connected to PCB. Or no? What's best way to check OC potential (without shunt modding, don't want it yet)? Fans on max, undervolt to 0.9V, check max stable core clock, go up with voltage, repeat with core clocks?

Congratulations for your new scores!

If i remember correctly i could get around 2100 without hitting the power limit.
I bet you will get around that too!

Also if you find the power limit kicking in too early, 450 is not much really, you can also use the VF curve in afterburner and cut back some voltage to gain watts.

MSI Trio is a hidden gem of a card, that 3 pins are rare and much more valuable than say ASUS TuF's vrms. Vrms are sufficient anyway on all cards.

I was sad to see people choose Tuf over Trio... I had 2X TUF and 2XTRIO and the TRIOs consistently beat the Tufs any day in both performance and Temperatures.

So i kissed their metal shrouds goodbye lol

GPU chip power has a power limit. I don't know what that limit is on other cards. On 3090 FE, it is 300W. If it reaches 290W, it will begin to call a power limit. I tested that. Not shunting it will still allow more power just from doing 8 pins and Slot, but it will limit your max power, depending on where its internal power limit is set to. This will also cause your tdp normalized% to be much higher than TDP% in hwinfo64, because normalized will recognize the chip power limit.
We both have the 3090 FE and I know you know it's 350w default and max power 114% for 400w ;)

Please read my post again carefully this time....

My bad, I read it too fast, sorry🙃
"GPU chip power has a power limit"
Yeah. When shunt modding you need to mod that or the chip could reach its power limit before the board reaches its tdp limit (from the 8 pins and slot power total)

Hey guys, a little late to the party lol but thought I'd share.

I've been testing and tuning Cyberpunk and it has been absolutely amazing, easily making any hardware beg for mercy with truly maxed out settings w/ Psycho. I've been having a blast tuning the msi* 3080 with Cyberpunk. Gosh I can't wait to get the water block on this card...

On the stock blower w/ 100% fans...

RTX 3080 | 9900K
Cyberpunk 2077 @ 4K
Fully maxed out settings...
DLSS - Quality
Psycho mode

So far...
2160MHz Core / 10,000MHz+ Mem (using 3DMark metrics)

That seems to be the limit with the stock blower as the game would flat line with anything higher after playing it for a while and/or in a heavy fight scene, but dang I'm not complaining. :)

This is enough data for me to really be excited for the water block and on to benching it'll surely go.

The game is incredible and it should also be the new golden standard for benchmarks at the 4K + Fully Maxed Settings.

For 4K gaming, there is very little difference between Ultra and High so with a customized setting and with the help of DLSS, one could enjoy a nice 4K experience from one of the finest titles to date.

I'll be doing some more extensive testing today...

Fire Strike w/ the 3080.

The gap between the 3090 and 3080 fps wise is so slim that for the money it's hard to justify or recommended spending hundreds more for the 3090 to clients.

In Cyberpunk, this 3080 has already blown past a stock 3090. Even with the 3090 OC'ed I don't see there being a realistic noticeable improvement with the frames already being in a territory that's way beyond good.

With that said...of course I'm still after the 3090/ti/kp lol.

Pretty impressed with the graphics score. Not too shabby.

Pretty impressive scores. what voltage are u running your gpu at? Thanks

Cyberpunk definitely doesn't need to be maxed out. A good combo of settings for 1440p is to set it at Ultra presets, Ray tracing (reflections only) and with DLSS on quality. Try that out and see now works for you.

I'm playing on a LG 38" wide screen @ 160Hz. Both at 1440p and 4K.

Are u running ur gpu on water. The temps are pretty good for the sustained clocks?

That's with the stock vbios and the max voltage I've seen is 1.081v... I've been deciding which firmware to flash on there as the stock wattage caps out at 320W.

I was thinking maybe the zotac vbios?

Surprisingly it's on the stock blower @ 100% max fans. I've been scratching my head too.,really impressed.

Damn that is pretty impressive for a stock bios. I flashed in a strix 3080 bios and i gave it more headroom. i can push my card to 2150mhz on the core but the issue is the temps when the temps climbs past 70c the frequency drops. I think i need to tinker with my voltages to give my card more thermal head room. its an msi gaming x tri o btw.
