Hello all! :)

I am in the process of slimming things down a little (Not just my waistband either!). I went WC 6 months ago now, and bought the majority of the parts new (Except Block!). I have now decided that I may go back to Air Cooling, providing I can get what I want for my WC.

I am in the process of slimming things down a little (Not just my waistband either!). I went WC 6 months ago now, and bought the majority of the parts new (Except Block!). I have now decided that I may go back to Air Cooling, providing I can get what I want for my WC.

The Loop Consists of:

D-tek Fuzion v1 with AMD and Intel Mounting Brackets (775/AM2/Am3)

Alphacool Nexxos Extreme 360 Triple Rad + 3 x Sleeved Xigmatek XLF-1253

D-tek DB-1 Mini Pump

XSPC Bay Reservoir

10 x UV Orange Hose Clamps

Delrin Fillport

I will also throw in:

~ 2.5l of De-ionised Water, with PT Nuke and UV Orange Dye (Home Made by Mayhem on OC3D)

The current tubing (~ 7ft UV Orange 7/16" XSPC, pretty well used)

Anything else I can find :)

Old pic, but still!

For this total setup, I am looking for £125 Shipped!

Hi guys,
I just recently rma-ed my mobo, havent tested anything yet, yesterday I got a 17inch CRT and set up the whole comp. Everything worked perfectly but today, when I turn on the system, the GPU's fan cranks up to 100% and there is nothing on the crt.

Things I've tried
Clearing Cmos
Removing BIOS battery
changing pci slots for the gpu
removing everything and just leaving 1gb RAM, 1 GPU.

Sometimes when I remove all the sataports (1ssd, 1 wdblack and 1 cd-drive), the comp boots and asks me to insert a drive. Sometimes it doesnt even boot. Once or twice, with the ssd plugged in, all sticks of rams, I've managed to entered windows, but when I restart, the same thing happens.

Even when there is no video, I can still feel the hard drive spin. The sound card lights up.

Please help me guys.

Need advice, want to get off stock cpu heatsink/fan.

So I have this rig (see sig) and this is my second build that I did on my own. My first build didnt include a cooler of any type, used the stock heatsink and fan.

So I have this rig (see sig) and this is my second build that I did on my own. My first build didnt include a cooler of any type, used the stock heatsink and fan.
I want to use air cooling (something to replace the cpu stock heatsink), water cooling seems too advanced for me since I never even used anything other then stock cooling.
I want to OC my i7 920 D0 stepping CPU (stock is 2.66ghz) and I have no idea what kind of limitation it has right now with it's stock cooling and what it's limitations would be with another cooling solution.

So to make this simplier, here's a few questions that are numbered... please responde with the number of the question and any advice or answers.

1. With stock cooling on my CPU, how high can I bring my OC to before overheating becomes an issue? Is it possible to acheive 3.4-3.6ghz?

2. Lifetime differences. I know CPUs can last 10-15 years at stock settings. Im looking to OC to those numbers above, 3.4 to 3.6ghz; possibly higher if the difference in CPU lifetime is minimal between 3.6 and 3.8-4.0ghz; is there any lifetime difference? What kind of lifetime does a 4.0ghz CPU have; a 3.6ghz have; and a 3.2ghz have?

3. What cooling would you suggest to replace the cpu stock cooling heatsink/fan to acheive a nice OC? And is it hard to install install these cooling solutions?

4. Do all cooling cpu heatsinks come with thermalpaste or is that something you need to purchase seperately?

Any other useful help or advice would be awesome.

Regards,
Greg

Should I put it on the radiator from inside the case pushing? Would it harm cooling as it will be 1 fan pushing and 3 fans pulling?

Since the memory controller is on the CPU, is it possible to put registered/buffered ECC RAM into an Asus P6T (not WS!) X58 motherboard when using a Xeon W3520 processor and have the system find it? (although without providing any ECC-capabilities of course).

The motherboard is marked as "non-ECC" since it is originally designed to fit a Core i7 CPU, but there has been reports that it also works with a Xeon W3520, both being essentially the same CPU.

Reg/ECC RAM is currently almost a third of the price of non-ECC at 4GB; the goal is simply to fit as much RAM as possible (24GB) into the system.

Has anyone actually seen such a setup?

I have to decide on the colour sheme first though.
Case will be an Antec Mini P180 with a window mod.

Options (these are some colour swatches I did up):
White/blue:
Gigabyte GA-P55M-UD4
White Mini P180
White LED lighting
Would look something like this:

White/black/red (not so keen on this)
White Mini P180
Asus Maximus 3 Gene

Black/red
Black Mini P180
Asus Maximus 3 Gene
Black MDPC sleeving kit with red highlights
Red LED lighting

Black/white/red
Black Mini P180
Red and white LED lighting
No swatch, but I saw this and loved it.

I'm kinda leaning away from the white case, even though my friend thinks it'd be awesome. Mainly because of few pictures I've seen of it, none of them seem to indicate the white is uniform (ie the front panel is darker than the sides). Also, it'd be harder to keep clean (fingerprints. although dust would be invisible)

But what do you guys think?

We have a ATI 4850 1GB, Silverstone 1 12v rail 1000w PSU and a Phenom II 945. The multi isn't unlocked but this mobo has a lot of ammo to OC it to 3.7ghz

We are thinking about getting a RAM cooler for a higher OC.

What do you guys think of this setup? I don't know about you but my friend is a lucky duck.

I have had watercooling for a few months, since Aug 09 and I have been using 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD Clearflex 60 Hose as my tubing. I recently brought a NB block and I've noticed that the tubing doesn't fit very well and is hard to bend from the CPU block to the NB.

I was going to buy 3/8" ID - 5/8" OD White Hose (XSPC) and get PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coils 5/8"- Black to go with it. I'm worried it will look too thin compared with the 1/2" i'm using at the moment.

Does any have any pictures of their setup with that size tubing in it I could take a look at?

my other option I was thinking was I could get 1/2" ID - 3/4" OD White Hose (XSPC) and again PrimoChill Anti-Kink Coils 3/4"- Black when its back in stock but then to use some compression fittings which have a 90degree angle on them like these: 1/4" BSPP - 3/8" ID - 5/8" OD 90 Degree Rotary Compression but the problem im having is I can't find any for the 1/2" tubing!

Anyone know where to get them from? :)

I restarted and it stays at a constant 27% after a fresh restart and it wont go down past that. My memory used to stay around 3-4% but as I type this I have 2 tabs open in firefox and Power ISO running and I am suing 82% of memory. I know something is wrong cause there is no way I am really using all this memory, it's not like I have Photoshop or some video editing app open. Can someone tell me what I can do to see what is using all my memory or maybe theres an app that can show me.

Ok I just upgraded my wireless network to a higher rated one. My xbox says that it found my wireless connection but the channel and the IP addy are way wrong for what my wireless is setup as. I also see that when I scan for networks it says that the ssid is duplicate and I can't fix it. Anyone have any Ideas on what I would need to do to fix this.

I know I need to go hardwired and I want to but funds are tight right now since My dad and I just lost our jobs. We have tried a second gateway and that made things worse. The first router that we had the thing kept saying that the MTU settings were too low and my router was set at 1500 so I know it wasn't that. If anyone has any help on this please let me know I am getting frusterated at this system and want to go back to the slower connection since that one worked fine. I have contacted Verizon and Xbox and neither of them can help me.
